Panasonic and HATCH Presents Six Inspiring Stories to Commemorate Malaysia’s Six Decades of Independence


Commemorating Malaysia’s 60th National Day, Panasonic Malaysia has partnered with HATCH, a YouTube channel under Media Prima's Studio8, to present “HACTION! Shot on Lumix GH5. HACTION! is a short film competition that brings together six Malaysian filmmakers to relive the journey of Malaysia’s achievements and national pride over the last six decades.


Capitalising on Studio8’s strong track record of creating Malaysian original content that pushed the boundaries of storytelling, HACTION! aims to inspire filmmakers to produce their unique take of Malaysia’s achievement and pride. The collaboration, featuring the new Panasonic LUMIX GH5 camera, was announced during the product launch in Malaysia earlier this year.


Mr. Hiroyuki Muto, Deputy Managing Director of Panasonic Malaysia said, “With over 40 years of local presence in Malaysia, Panasonic is committed to the development of innovative digital cameras to provide a new photo culture in the digital era. Our partnership with Media Prima is a significant platform to be part of the journey in celebrating Malaysia’s 60th National Day by helping to develop local filmmakers and content creators, providing them with the opportunity to showcase the quality of Malaysian original content, powered by LUMIX GH5”.


Through this partnership, Panasonic is confident it will help to strengthen the brand’s presence in the digital single lens mirrorless cameras (DSLM) market and appeal to the wider millennial audiences.

6 Decades, 6 Stories, 6 Filmmakers
With over 60 years of achievements, Malaysia has grown to be a worldwide example that showcases ethnic diversity, multiculturalism, and home to varied cuisines, culture and languages. To celebrate Malaysia’s 60th Independence, HACTION! brings together six Malaysian filmmakers to capture Malaysia’s best moments through the lenses of their cameras.


Mr. Muto shared, “The digital camera has revolutionized photography, making it accessible to
more people and creating more talents. As the industry reinvents progressively, mirrorless cameras
is now a growing trend in Malaysia, with video production gaining its popularity and the standard for cinematography is getting higher as well.”

“We saw this partnership as a good platform to nurture our local filmmakers in creating visually
and engaging stories, while showcasing the capabilities of the LUMIX GH5”, added Mr Muto.

Hailing from the circles of independent production community, HACTION! shortlisted
filmmakers representing different styles and genres where most of the works produced have been recognised from local and international industry leaders.


Each filmmaker were tasked to produce a maximum of 5-minutes video that highlights the beauty
of Malaysia and the six decades of unity, peace and harmony. All six filmmakers were equipped
with a Panasonic LUMIX GH5 for audio and visual recording, a fund of RM4,000 for production and 30-days to complete the filming and submission of their short film.


Comprising of well-known industry thought leaders, the panel of judges consist of Ahmad Izham Omar, CEO of Primeworks Studios, Mr. Hiroyuki Muto, Deputy Managing Director of Panasonic Malaysia, and Low Ngai Yuen, renowned film director and actress as the guest judge. Each short
film was judged based on 70% of judges’ vote including storytelling, editing and post production,
and cinematography. The remaining 30% were contributed by public voting which was opened
from 1-21 August 2017.


The winning short film received a complete set of the Panasonic LUMIX GH5, accessories and
cash prize of RM8,000. The HACTION! series is available for viewing on Hatch (www.youtube.com/wehatchyou) a YouTube channel under Media Prima’s Studio8 that is created to entertain and inspire the urban millennial audience.

Who likes to know about the smartphones in Malaysia? Now there's Meizu, one of world’s best selling smartphone makers, makes it debut to Malaysian market with its M3s and M3 Note. Chinese New Year Open House MYDIN- SJ ECHO 2017

 It's a happening night last Friday, it's Chinese New Year Open House MYDIN- SJ ECHO 2017. This year is the 5th year where MYDIN and SJ ECHO has work closely together. SJ ECHO is local Subang Jaya community newspaper. As early as 6pm, many people regardless race come to MYDIN USJ to celebrate the Chinese New Year until 11.30 at night. 11.30pm is the last lucky draw held for the day for lucky shoppers.

Chinese New Year Open House MYDIN- SJ ECHO 2017, has welcome the representatives from local authorities Pihak Berkuasa Tempatan (PBT) namely Majlis Perbandaran Subang Jaya (MPSJ), Police Daerah Subang Jaya, Bomba & Penyelamat Daerah Subang Jaya and other VIPs guests. Special guests 20 residents from Old Folks Home Seri Setia, Sungai Way, Petaling Jaya, watched the lion dance performance.

 The evening was raining and didn't stop the performance of lion dance. They are performance like dragon dance, wushu performance, fire eater, face mask changing performance. The lucky draw for lucky shoppers held every hour from 9.30pm. Lucky shoppers of Meriah MYDIN card entitled for the lucky draw with minimum spend of RM88 in a single receipt. The receipts of last minute submit was 7pm on 24 February 2017 at Information Counter of MYDIN USJ. It started from 17 February the receipts for submission by shoppers.The lucky draw sessions held in the same night.

This Chinese New Year- Make It GIANT

GCH Retail (Malaysia) Sdn Bhd announces its Chinese New Year promotion in all Giant stores nationwide. I went to their media event at Giant Hypermarket USJ. The above video is the launching of the campaign at Giant.

In conjunction with the year of the rooster, Giant's Chinese New Year campaign focuses on big discounts, large range of products offerings and meaningful treats to consumers. During the event, Giant's official Chinese New Year TV commercial was shown for the first time on 29 December 2016.

New Year Countdown Party @CITTA Mall


  Merry Christmas to dear readers and visitors. Where are you going to celebrate today? Talking of Christmas they will be a countdown soon for the New Year. What is your plan for this New Year's Eve? I attended the 16 Going on 17! Media Preview Night at CITTA Mall's Upcoming New Year Countdown Party. As we all know that 2016 came and went by so swiftly that some of us are still struggling to catch our breaths. Looking for fireworks display this year? No worry as you can plan to go CITTA Mall the annual fireworks display on New Years Eve will serve a reminder that despite all the hardships we've endured and obstacles we've faced, there are beautiful moments in life worth pausing for. And there's absolutely no reason why we can't go all out with a bang as we welcome 2017 with our arms high in the air!

It's exciting as I am one of them that teamed up with lovely Lee Yvonne for finding the Watsons brand. We are given time to participate and each of us given a basket to shop. We need to achieve RM888 amount in a receipt. We didn't win as our receipt comes up with about RM540. It's fun shopping spree experience with the celebrity. Indeed fun experience for everyone that took part in this shopping spree. Ceria Raya Bersama F&N Contest Grand Finale‏. it was held at Orange Concourse in Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall. 

Hari Raya is synonymous with the spirit of togetherness and a time where we share joy and laughter, thus Malaysia’s largest soft drinks manufacturer and distributor, F&N Beverages & Marketing Sdn. Bhd., made this year’s festivities even more special for Malaysians with a contest to reward consumers; especially for five (5) lucky individuals who is the finalists of the contest.


They are the finalists of Ceria Raya bersama F&N contest, and they have been chosen to compete in the contest grand finale at Sunway Pyramid. The five went through a series of challenges for the contest top prizes as well as the opportunity to walk away with the Ultimate Grand Prize of a RM1 million dream house.

Challenges that five finalist need to take part included
  • Compete through a series of challenges in Ceria Raya Bersama F&N Contest Grand Finale. The first challenge “Memori Minda F&N” involves a strong implementation of mental practice.
  • Each finalist is required to open up the boards with matching products; only two blocks can be opened up each time. The key to win “Memori Minda F&N” is to have a sturdy memory and an efficient mindset.
  • The second challenge “Kiub Minda Cerdas” involves the exercise of both physical and mental activities to excel in the challenge.
  • The five finalists are to puzzle up all individual small cubes as per the completed Rubik cube in “Kiub Minda Cerdas” challenge; the fastest to complete the puzzle claims victory.
  • In ‘F&N Rebut Mania Challenge”, finalists take turn to be hoisted into a pool of F&N products allocated with score points. Within 20 seconds time frame, they are required to grab as many products as possible.

It was exciting to see the participants, trying their best to collect as many big bottles of the F&N to their bag. The big bottles of F&N has more points than the cans. 
Semi-Final
 In the Semi-Final round, top 3 finalists are competing in a Q&A round to stand a chance to win the Ultimate Grand Prize of Ceria Raya Bersama F&N Contest.

Nadia Binti Mohamad Nasir, 27 years old from Seri Kembangan, Selangor won Second Prize, a Nissan Almera 1.5L E A/T worth RM63,000. Her family always been a fans of F&N beverages and especially for Raya this year, they stocked up various brands of F&N beverages during this festive period so that her relatives and friends who visit them have a good selection of drinks to pick from. She's happy that she took part in this contest and won a the car.

Fatin Shazwani Binti Hamdan, 26 years old, from Ipoh, Perak, who came in third place, brings home a complete state-of-the-art home theatre system comprising of 1 Samsung 65” UHD TV, 1 Samsung Home Theatre System and 1 JBL Sound Bar worth RM30,000. She's excited as her hubby didn't know of the prize she won. She's going to surprise her hubby with this brand new set of home theatre system and she can enjoy it with her family.


Sumengdiran Boyle A/L Ularkanazan, aged 32, from Penang and Chuan Wei Yiaw, aged 30, from Cheras, Kuala Lumpur, both walk away with RM10,000 cash each.

Hidayati Binti Jamil is very happy to win the car because it's her dream to have a family car. She is
from Shah Alam, Selangor, she says that the challenges were not easy, but she's glad she completed them! Winning the Innova is a huge bonus for her because she joined this contest not expecting to come this far. She would have loved to win the house, but to be honest she is equally happy with her new set of wheels.
