Fruit salads come with a host of benefits such as managing weight as they are low in calories and enhances satiety and as a good replacement for those individual who have sweet tooth.

Adding a fruity dressing to salads not only satisfies the craving but re-energizes at the same time.

Please be mindful of certain guidelines when choosing items from the salad bars.
Consider your tolerance level, health conditions and also specific needs. Example: certain individuals may be allergic to dried nutritious items such as peanuts and the lactose-intolerant should avoid nuts and mayonnaise displayed.

For fruits and vegetables, taking each variety in small portions is not harmful but be careful when it comes to large quantities as it may affect certain health condition. For example, diabetics should avoid watermelon in a huge quantity as it will spike the sugar level.

For those without any health conditions, exercise your own creativity and preferences. For healthier dressing, choose a drizzle of healthy olive oil and favourite vinegar with addition of dry fruits and nuts.

Key fruits that you could opt from salad bar includes grapes, kiwis and mangoes, apples and berries. Grapes promote resveratrol which improves dilation of blood vessel and brain protection abilities. They are also great for asthma, increase moisture in lungs and reduce asthmatic events.
Mangoes with high concentration of Vitamin C and antioxidants help with immunity, regulates diabetes, low glycemic index. The tartaric acid helps alkalizes the body and rich iron amounts surg well for anemia.
Kiwi, a nutrient-dense food aids digestion and has high levels of potassium balance our blood pressure.

Drawing a comparison between the benefits of fruits and fruits juices, do you know the difference?
Whole fruits provides more nutrition that fruit juices, focusing on two components - the skin and the pulp. Pulp is an important source of fiber (and nutrients) and thru juicing the pulp are usually removed. Fruit juice has higher glycemic index and lower fiber, which passes through digestive system quickly. Fruit juices can be consumed before a meal as they will provide instant energy and doesn't have a satiety feeling.

Fruits and fruits juices combinations are great for everyday health maintenance - and especially useful during Ramadhan month for an instant energy and nutrition boost.

Tourism Malaysia launches Tourism Information Centre at KidZania Kuala Lumpur

Speeby by Susanah Abdul Rani, Gabenor of KidZania Kuala Lumpur and Selangor.

It's Saturday, school holiday almost over for June. Afraid not as now you can still plan for your school holiday. Tourism Malaysia has launches Tourism Information Centre (TIC) at KidZania Kuala Lumpur.

Gracing the event was YB Tam Sri Dr. Ong Hong Peng.

Working together with Tourism Malaysia as a smart partner, this mini Tourism Malaysia TIC aims to instill the interest of traveling in children, particularly domestic travel. It will be fun for them as even my son been asking about domestic travel. It is also meant to grow the interest amongst children in planning family vacations to domestic destinations and most importantly, to educate the importance of the tourism industry to children at an early age.

The concept of the Tourism Malaysia TIC revolves around kids being in an environment similar to an actual Tourism Malaysia TIC, with activities such as creating tour packages and tour itineraries. Kids will be exposed to local destinations and learn to create detailed planned holiday travels. Activities such as these would assist participating kids in developing and organizing their strategic and creative thinking skills.

The establishment of this TIC in KidZania is a great platform to educate the young generation about the important role of tourism in the nation's economy.

During the event, I have also capture some video of dance performance, click on the link to view

As KidZania is a city for children, a named the 'Best Experience for Kids' in Expatriate Lifestyle's Best of Malaysia Awards 2014 for the second consecutive year running, KidZania Kuala Lumpur continously look at opportunities to expose children to new experiences and endless smart partnerships.

Jurassic World is a must watch!

It's Friday evening and I am glad that I bring my mom and son for a movie date before the school starts. June's holiday maybe over soon, if you are heaving to Genting Highlands and interest to check out Genting International Children's Festival do click on the link.

Spoiler alert...

It's a movie date with them as son has no interest to watch horror movie, so dinosaurs movie would be the best entertainment for adults and kids. I am glad this movie gives my mom and son a fun filled feeling from start to the end of the movie.

My favorite actors are in this movie, they are Chris Pratt and Ty Simpkins. It's heart beating fast movie where you'll see new dinosaur, it's named Indomimus Rex it's fierce and it's big best of all it change its colour just like frog? This new species of dinosaur is not suppose to exist but someone wanted it bigger and better or something new in the theme park, so they created this beast/monster! This intelligent Indomimus Rex escape the cage, you got to see this movie to find out how. Nobody knows that's going to happen.

Jurassic World where you see parents get to see their child riding on live dinosaurs, no kidding, they get to pet the dinosaur feeding it without being bitten. Well, do you think all dinosaurs are tame? How about raptors?

How two brothers and their aunt going to escape the island? Well they are not alone in the island of dinosaurs, an animal expert (Chris Pratt) is there to help. The two brothers were send by their parents to the dinosaur islands as they feel that it's a family time for them to catch up with their aunt who is working in the dinosaur island. It's bonding time for the brothers too as the young brother (Ty Simpkins) he's got the feeling that their parents going to divorce because they have send each other with letters from different lawyer. He knows about it as he google it up on Internet.

Huge water dinosaur, that gulp up a shark during feeding time. This Jurassic World would makes you to want watch Jurassic Park on how it all begins.

This movie is PG13, it's 2 hours 10 minutes movie. I would like to watch it again!

For your info, I bought the movie tickets in GSC Midvalley each adult ticket RM17, child around RM9. I suggest don't go to GSC Signature the Gardens unless you are willing to spend minimum RM30 on a ticket or RM79 for a gold class ticket!

Stay healthy and look beautiful throughout Ramadhan with Guardian's regime and tips

How's everyone doing today? As the holy month of Ramadhan is fast approaching, leading pharmacy, healthy and beauty retailer Guardian Malaysia launched its annual health and beauty campaign to help customers stay healthy and look good throughout Ramadhan, and the Hari Raya festival that follows.

Ramadhan is a time when Muslims across the world fast during the hours of daylight. In hot climate countries such as Malaysia, the heat and humidity could take a toll on the body and fatigue often sets in.

"Sihat and Anggun Sempena Aidilfitri" this year, the campaign continues to raise awareness and educate customers on how they can maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle during the month-long fast, culminating in the festive celebrations. In particular, Guardian has identified and offers a wide range of healthy, beauty and wellness products that would meet customers' needs.

At a media review which held in Carcosa Seri Negara, Ledang Room to kick start this campaign, we were treated to a variety of activities including a health check by Guardian Pharmacists and a dialogue with Guardian's Health Advisor Siti Aishah Mohd Yunos. Her photo is above.

Guardian's Health Advisor Siti Aishah Mohd Yunos, she explains that during pre dawn meal (Sahur).
Body needs something that is slow to digest in and retain long enough for >12hours of fasting.

Breaking of Fast (Iftar). Body needs something easy to digest for faster energy since it has fasting long hours.

Skin care and makeup styles and trends for this season by Guardian's Beauty Advisor Evelyn Tay, on the event blogger Elana has step up as volunteer for step by step.
Look at Elana she's enjoying her masking at the event. Before that she had makeup remover, it's important to have cleanse face for masking.

Blogger Elana is happy with the result.
Hair care by Head of Cut Above Academy Peter Wong
One of the tips he shares on anyone who is having naturally wavy and dry hair.
  • Don't shampoo everyday but do condition your hair every time you shower.
  • When rinsing your hair, use cool water.
  • Use your fingers to 'comb' your hair rather than using a comb (unless you're using a hair dryer).
  • Embrace your curls and not use flat irons or hairdryers.
  • Use leave-in-conditioners after every hair wash.
  • Apply conditioner before washing hair and then apply again after rinsing off shampoo.
I tried the last method above using the Guardian Botaneco Garden products, click on the link to find out.

Mom and son's day out at Genting Highlands

I woke up 5am for this, well the night before I drank tea so it was a long time for me to go to sleep. I am sure if you are not able to drink tea or coffee, you'll know your sleep will be disturb. I must have drank it too late as I know it was late dinner the night.

My eldest boy is 9 years old, he's knows me well that I love blogging and he's shows the same interest as me. Check out his post on Genting International's Children's Festival, click on the link to read.

He's poor in BM but he's good in English so he loves to write in English. Somehow I do encourage him to write in BM but he says that he's not doing so well with the keyboard as it takes time for him to type. It would be better for him to write in English and be skillful in keyboard then only move on to BM.

Last Friday, we woke up early in the morning so that my dear can take us out for breakfast then send us to One Utama to buy Genting bus tickets. From there the counter there's attachment with cable car ticket too. You can also purchase the next day tickets if you like to come back to One Utama by bus.

I thought it's going to be a long queue for to purchase tickets, it's not. Perhaps it's a Friday not the weekend that's why there are still empty seats in the bus. My son truly happy and enjoy himself during the events.

We were given a room to stay at First World Hotel, it's a stand room for maximum of 3 pax. I am sure you know how, just push the single beds together and you can accommodate three persons. In the night, he's not sleeping well my guess is he's over excited of the journey and entertainment throughout the night. We watched the Illuminate show at 8.30pm, it's an hour show. My dear came at 9pm so he needs to wait in First World until our show is over. He had to work and go home that's why he's late to meet up with us.

The night my toddler didn't come along as my sister-in-law takes care of him and also nephew came for a night stay.

Our Saturday morning breakfast at First World Hotel, then we go for gaming as son wants to play. Back in the room, after showered and packing we check out. We wanted to purchase durian ice cream from the mini strawberry farm but it's sold out. However we manage to purchase fresh vegetables back home. There's a culture shop that we can go in but my dear stop us from going in, I am sure you know why, the less you see, the less you buy.
